About Us

Bands 4A Cause was founded in 2011 to join in the effort of spreading awareness for endangered animals. Our first project has been promoting awareness for one of the most majestic and rare animals on our planet, the snow leopard. We created the leopard band as a representative and highly visual item that will outwardly show support for the plight of the snow leopard. Our hope is that those wearing the leopard band will spread awareness for the severely endangered snow leopard as family, friends and passerbys stop to ask what the band represents. In conjunction with the awareness wearing this band will create, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to those on the front lines ensuring daily that each generation of snow leopard is not only protected, but thrives. We are one with you in helping save the animals who cannot save themselves.We sincerely appreciate any comments or suggestions as we are all one team in the fight to save the Snow Leopard!

Indigenous to the mountains of central Asia, snow leopards roam a total area of 2 million miles, roughly the size of Mexico. Although their range appears relatively large, less than 7,000 are thought to exist in the wild, this number being a high estimate. The truth is, because of the elusive nature of the cats and the rough terrain they call home, the snow leopard population is extremely difficult to count and could be as low as 3,500. The snow leopard has adapted to its climate with its distinct camouflage light-grey coat and its long, bushy tail which can be wrapped around its body for warmth. However, although the snow leopard has learned to survive in the cold, there are several factors that have drastically reduced their population to near extinction. Poaching claims a large number of snow leopard lives as their coats are considered highly valuable and their bones used for old Asian medicine. Also, human expansion into the snow leopard's natural habitat has rendered the animals homeless and vulnerable. Snow leopards are often without protection from poachers and humans taking over their homes as the poor countries of Central Asia are not able to properly establish protected areas or pay park rangers. The most dangerous threat to the future of these magnificent snow leopards is something that we can easily change, a lack of awareness to their current endangered status. Those living in Central Asia and elsewhere around the world have very little knowledge as to the importance of the snow leopard to the ecosystem in which they inhabit. They also do not realize that unless something is done, unless people are made aware, the snow leopard will be forever erased from the planet. Information was gathered from the Snow Leopard Trust.
